You will meet a lot of people in your life. Some of them will only be in your life for a short period of time and some you might grow old with. Friends, better than Boyfriends or girlfriends help us define ourselves.
There are all kinds of friends. The ones you have coffee with and discuss your latest projects with, the ones who holds you without saying a word when you’re crying so much you can hardly breathe or the ones you dance with until five in the morning. Each one is special and has their own ”purpose”.
Today I want to introduce a very special friend of mine, Fumiko.
Fumiko is an inspiring person in many ways. She is a perfect example that you don’t have to go to collage to be good at something. She’s been studying English for many years by herself by watching dramas and looking up the words she don’t understand. She is always challenging herself by doing things like going alone to N.Y to explore the streets of Brooklyn, working the underground hip hop/black music scenes as a party photographer and making the most original nail art in Tokyo. She always compliment you on your style or a piece of work you have done, and she always makes the people around her feel good about themselves.
However, he thing that I find most inspiring about her is how ”imperfect” she is. She is not ashamed by her flaws and she allows herself to make mistakes (something I’m still working on myself. To criticize myself less that is) and I find that truly beautiful. There is nothing I dislike more that people who can’t make joke about themselves, people who think they are better than other people, or worse, a narcissist who doesn’t even have a reason for being one.
I love Fumiko because of her flaws, her honesty and for staying true to herself.
